The scope of work will include cable and connector supply, pre-assembly, test and reporting. Concentrating on the interface of the wind turbine, Cable Solutions will supply, build and test a number of cable assemblies at their base in Inverurie, Scotland. Our workscope will include power assemblies, Cat6 assemblies and fibre optic assemblies. The Cat6 cable assemblies will offer operating frequencies up to 250 MHz and speeds of up to 10 Gbps. The fibre optic cable assemblies will provide high-performance data. Compared to a wired cable solution, the fibre optic cables assemblies will provide higher bandwidth and transmit data over longer distances.
Graham Ross - Business Development Manager commented: “We are delighted to receive this significant contract, we have worked very hard during challenging times to build a solid foundation for the company, whilst ensuring professional service and a quality product at all times. It’s perceived that we work specifically for the oil & gas and shipping industry, however, our products and services are suitable for all three industries, in which we’re experienced and proven. Being awarded this wind farm project means a great deal to Cable Solutions, it allows us to cement our wind farm capabilities, and builds further sector experience. Importantly, we’ve diversified in-line with global energy companies, providing the same level of services, products and support.”
Colin Fraser - Managing Director - added: “Cable Solutions are proud to be associated with this renewable energy wind farm project, we’re securely supporting the supply-chain and together we’re helping provide a clean energy source that we can rely on for the future, …. it’s reliable, cost-effective and pollution-free. The Cable Solutions team are delighted with the award, it will keep the pre-assembly team busy until the end of 2021. Additionally, it involves a number of in-house processes and procedures, allowing us to demonstrate our product knowledge and technical ability.”
Cable Solutions has been involved in a number of similar offshore clean-energy projects, however this contracts supports our continued diversification into renewable energy. It will enable us to continue to grow our experience in offshore wind. Our in-house team look forward to delivering the scope of work, efficiently and safely in line with client expectations.
